Office365: Error message when forwarding

Error: 550 5.7.520 Access denied

If you receive the following error message: “550 5.7.520 Access denied, Your organization does not allow external forwarding. Please contact your administrator for further assistance. AS(7555)” when you receive an e-mail forwarding to an external address in conjunction with an Office365 account, then follow these instructions.

  1. Open the following link and log in with the admin account: https://protection.office.com/antispam.
  2. Open the category “Outbound spam filtering policy”.
  3. Click on the button “Edit policy”.
  4. Under “Automatic Forwarding”, select the entry “On – Forwarding is activated” from the drop-down menu. Then click on Save.

After following these 4 steps you should now be able to send e-mails without any problems using automatic forwarding or rules.
