SiteDesigner: adjust SEO texts

Google shows an unfamiliar place, a sample company name or an odd title for your website, for example «Austin, TX»? If you built your website with a template in SiteDesigner, this text usually comes from the template’s SEO placeholders.

Where does the text come from?

The SiteDesigner templates contain sample values for page title, slogan and keywords. If you do not change them, they end up in your website’s page title (also visible in the browser tab) and therefore in Google’s search results.

How to adjust the SEO texts

• Open your website in SiteDesigner.
• At the top right, click «More» and then «SEO settings».
• Replace page title, slogan and keywords with your own details.
• Then publish the website again so that the changes go live.

When will Google see the change?

Google picks up the new title the next time it visits your website, which usually takes a few days. If you use Google Search Console, you can request re-indexing of your home page there to speed up the update.
