Microsoft 365: Assign licenses

Licenses for Microsoft 365 and Exchange Online that you order from us are then available in your Microsoft account. For a user to be able to use them, you assign them yourself in the Microsoft 365 admin center. This also applies when a subscription has been renewed, ordered again or changed.

1. Sign in to the admin center

  • Open https://admin.microsoft.com and sign in with your company’s administrator account, for example admin@musterdomain.onmicrosoft.com.
  • If you no longer know the password, click «Forgot my password» on the sign-in page. You manage your Microsoft account yourself, which is why only Microsoft can reset the password.

2. Check available licenses

  • Go to Billing › Licenses.
  • There you can see for each product how many licenses are available and how many are already assigned.

3. Assign a license to a user

  • Go to Users › Active users and click the user’s name.
  • Switch to the Licenses and apps tab.
  • Tick the box for the product you want, for example «Microsoft 365 Business Basic» or «Exchange Online (Plan 1)».
  • Click Save changes.

To assign licenses to several users at once, tick them in the list of active users and choose Manage product licenses at the top.

4. When is everything ready?

  • After assigning, it usually only takes a few minutes until the mailbox and apps are ready.
  • If a subscription had expired and is now active again, Microsoft restores the previous mailbox together with the license, as long as Microsoft’s retention period is still running.

Need more licenses?

You can easily order additional licenses in your customer center at https://admin.firestorm.ch. They will then also appear under Billing › Licenses and are assigned as described above.
