Important questions about the root servers
My preferred operating system is not listed when ordering. Can other operating systems also be installed?
Basically all compatible operating systems can be installed. However, check with us in advance whether your operating system can be installed and used.
Are root servers delivered with 32 bit or 64 bit operating systems?
All root server packages are delivered with 64 bit operating systems. Exceptions to this are customer-specific wishes.
Do I have full root access to the server?
Yes, you have full root access to the server. Via the administration interface you can even access the server up to the BIOS. You can use various functions such as start, stop, console access, statistics and much more.
I no longer have network access to the server. What can I do? I don’t know
You can open your service package under admin.firestorm.ch and access the console of your server directly via the menu item Console, even if the network connection does not work.
My server has an urgent malfunction, what can I do?
Contact our support or our 24 hour hotline immediately. Please have your root access data ready for the server. We will be happy to assist you with your problems.
How much does the support cost at the root servers?
The first 10 minutes are free (except 24h Hotline). Subsequently, our normal fees are due (40 CHF per 1/4h).
Can I upgrade or downgrade at a later date?
You can upgrade to a larger package at any time. A downgrade is unfortunately not technically possible (due to file system problems). So that a smaller hard disk can be used for a downgrade, a downgrade is only possible with a new installation.
