Cache Settings

For our own servers as well as the virtual servers of customers we have tested various settings in Proxmox and have come to the following results:

On our Proxmox server the combination of Write Back (Unsafe) and Discard is the best.

Since all our servers are equipped with a RAID controller, the “(Unsafe)” should not be too big a problem.

Here are the results of our speed tests (Windows VM):

All tests were run 2 times (1 test = cache empty; 2 tests = cache filled).
