Requirements for issuing an SSL Certificate

Requirements

In order for us to issue a certificate, we need the following information with your order:

1. The desired product type and term
2. The certificate signing request (CSR file, to be created with your server software) and the site to be encrypted (full domain name including any subdomains (FQDN), to verify that the common name in the CSR is correct)
3. The complete address with contact person and telephone number
4. Name and version of the (web) server software used to create the CSR

Domain validated certificates (DV)

For DV certificates such as Lite, Bronze or Limitbreaker, we only check that you control the domain. For this, a working e-mail address must be visible in the WHOIS and named by you. Alternatively, name us an e-mail address of the domain to be certified (directly, without any subdomains) from the following list: admin@, administrator@, hostmaster@, postmaster@, root@ or webmaster@.

Certificates with identity check (OV and EV)

For OV and EV certificates, the certificate holder is also verified (1 to 5 working days). For this we need one of the following documents as a scan:

1. For companies registered in the commercial register, a copy of the certificate holder’s commercial register extract
2. For companies not registered in the commercial register, a copy of the certificate holder’s trade licence
3. For private individuals, a copy of the certificate holder’s identity card (front and back) or passport
4. For government organisations, public or non-profit institutions, a copy of the certificate holder’s official letterhead
5. For registered associations, a copy of the entry in the register of associations
6. For all other types of organisation, please contact us about suitable proof of identity. In addition to the documents above, a copy of the tax number or VAT number allocation, a copy of the driving licence, a redacted copy of a bank statement or a bill from an electricity, gas or water supplier may also be suitable, provided they clearly prove the information given. In case of doubt, two of these documents are required.
7. If you are acting on behalf of a customer, we also need suitable proof of identity of the invoice recipient for delivery on invoice

Please make sure that the WHOIS data of the domain to be certified matches the data you provided.

Finally, you will receive an invoice from us by e-mail.
