Unlock foreign access

For security reasons, SSH, RDP, MSSQL and PostgreSQL on your root server are blocked by default for access from outside Western Europe. If you still need access from abroad, for example while on holiday or a business trip, you can unlock your server yourself.

Where to find the unlock option

• Log in to the client area
• Open your root server package
• Under “Manage”, click “Unlock foreign access”

Good to know

• The unlock applies to the whole server, not just a specific application.
• It stays active until you lock it again yourself. Click the tile again and choose “Lock foreign access”.
• While active, your server is reachable worldwide for SSH, RDP, MSSQL and PostgreSQL, not only from the country you happen to be in. Turn it off again once you no longer need it.

• I don’t see the tile. It only appears on root server packages with their own IP address. Open a ticket if that’s not the case for you.
• What does this cost? Nothing, it’s included with your root server package.
• Can I unlock just one country? No, the unlock applies worldwide to the whole server.
