Conditions to be fulfilled

These depend on whether you have your own server or use a web hosting service from another provider. If you host with us, all requirements are met automatically and we install the certificate for you.

If you have your own server, you must create the certificate signing request (CSR) yourself (read the corresponding Knowledge Base article) and then import or include the certificate yourself (read the instructions linked in the e-mail with the certificate). If you have questions about the installation, we are happy to help. A separate IP address for each SSL website is no longer necessary today: thanks to SNI (Server Name Indication), several SSL websites can share the same IP address.

If you use the web hosting of another provider, first ask whether it allows your own certificates (i.e. also certificates that do not come directly from your web host). If so, ask your web host to create the certificate signing request for you and to install the certificate after we have issued it. Ask in advance whether your web host offers this service free of charge or for a fee.
