Reset SPF and DMARC

If the SPF or DMARC entry of your domain is no longer correct, e-mails are often rejected or end up in spam. With the Standard button you restore the correct value with a single click.

When does the button appear? Only for the SPF entry (TXT entry of the domain) and the DMARC entry (_dmarc), and only if the value differs from the FireStorm default. If everything is correct, you will not see a button.

How to proceed

  1. Log in at https://admin.firestorm.ch.
  2. Open the DNS entries of your domain as described in the article Change DNS entries.
  3. Click Standard next to the affected entry.

Standard button next to the SPF entry

  1. Check the default value shown and click Zurücksetzen (Reset).

Confirm default value

The entry is active on our name servers immediately. Only this one value is changed, all other entries stay as they are.

In Plesk

If you manage your DNS entries in Plesk, you will find the Default button there as well: open the domain, Hosting & DNS, DNS Manager, then click Default next to the entry and confirm.

The default values

  • SPF: v=spf1 include:spf.firestorm.ch -all
  • DMARC: v=DMARC1;p=quarantine;adkim=r;aspf=s
Other mail providers: If you also send e-mails through another provider (for example a newsletter service), you need to add its details to the SPF entry again after the reset.
