Plesk DNS Manager Extension

What is the DNS Manager Extension?

The Plesk DNS Manager Extension allows you to manage DNS zones directly in Plesk. All changes are automatically synchronized with the authoritative FireStorm name servers.

Features

  • Create and edit DNS records (A, AAAA, CNAME, MX, TXT, SRV, CAA, etc.) directly in Plesk
  • Changes are immediately propagated to the FireStorm name servers
  • Automatic synchronization – no separate DNS panel required
  • DNSSEC support
  • The extension auto-updates every 5 minutes

Requirements

  • Root server at FireStorm with an active Plesk license
  • Root access (SSH) to the server

Installation

  1. Log in to the FireStorm client area.
  2. Open the product details of your root server.
  3. Switch to the “Tools” tab.
  4. Click “Download Install Script”.
  5. Upload the downloaded .sh file to your server (e.g. via SCP or SFTP).
  6. Run the script as root:
    bash install-dns-manager-*.sh

The installation takes only a few seconds. Afterwards, the extension is available in Plesk under Extensions.

Automatic Updates

After installation, a cron job is set up that checks every 5 minutes for a new version. Updates are downloaded and installed automatically – no action required on your part.

API Key

Your personal API key is automatically generated and visible in the client area under Tools. The API key is used for communication between your server and the FireStorm DNS infrastructure. It is bound to your server’s IP address.

Managing DNS Zones

After installation, you can manage DNS zones in Plesk:

  1. Open Plesk and navigate to Websites & Domains.
  2. Select a domain and click DNS Settings.
  3. Create, edit, or delete DNS records as usual.

Changes are automatically propagated to the FireStorm name servers.

Notes

  • Your domain’s name servers must point to the FireStorm name servers for DNS records to take effect.
  • Certain system zones (e.g. firestorm.ch) cannot be managed through the extension.
