Use an Externally Registered Domain with FireStorm Hosting

Using an Externally Registered Domain

You have registered your domain with another registrar (e.g. GoDaddy, Namecheap, Hostpoint) and want to use it with your FireStorm hosting? No problem! You do not need to transfer your domain.

How It Works

Step 1: Add Domain in Plesk
Log in to your Plesk Panel (you can find the credentials in your welcome email or in the customer area). Click “Add Domain” and enter your domain name. The DNS records are created automatically.

Step 2: Change Nameservers at Your Registrar
Log in to the registrar where your domain is registered and change the nameservers to the FireStorm nameservers:

Nameserver
dns11.firestorm.ch
dns12.firestorm-isp.com
dns13.firestorm-isp.com
dns14.firestorm.ch

Step 3: Wait
The nameserver change can take up to 24 hours to propagate worldwide. However, it usually takes much less (a few minutes to 2 hours).

Check and Adjust DNS Records

DNS records are created automatically when adding the domain. If you want to check or adjust them:

  1. Open your Plesk Panel
  2. Click on the desired domain
  3. Go to “Hosting & DNS”
  4. Click on “DNS Manager” (or “DNS Settings”)

There you can see all DNS records (A, MX, CNAME, TXT etc.) and modify them if needed.

Benefits of a Domain Transfer

Using external nameservers works perfectly. However, we recommend a domain transfer to FireStorm in the long run:

  • Everything from one source (hosting, domain, DNS, SSL)
  • One contact for everything
  • Automatic SSL certificates
  • Easier management
