Full mailboxes are one of the most common causes of storage problems in web hosting. The culprit is often not the inbox itself but folders nobody keeps an eye on: over the months, thousands of messages pile up in the trash and spam folders.

That is why all FireStorm Linux hosting plans now include the new Mailbox Cleanup tool at no extra cost. With just a few clicks in the Plesk panel, you tell the server to empty selected folders automatically: messages older than the number of days you choose are permanently deleted once per night.

What Mailbox Cleanup can do

• Empty the trash automatically: for example, remove everything that was deleted more than 30 days ago
• Keep the spam folder small: old spam messages disappear by themselves
• Clean up custom folders: even a newsletter or archive folder can be tidied automatically
• Configurable per mailbox: each rule applies exactly to the mailbox and folder you select

The cleanup runs on the server. It therefore makes no difference whether you read your e-mail with Outlook, Apple Mail, webmail or on your smartphone. As a safety measure, the minimum retention is 7 days, and the overview always shows you when a rule last ran and how many messages were removed.
